In their resolve to hold the leaders of Imota Community Development Area accountable for their actions and inactions going forward, the Imota chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria organized one-day community dialogue activity for stakeholders in the axis to brainstorm.
Newsconnect reports that the theme for the maiden edition of Imota LCDA community dialogue was dubbed “From dialogue to action: Shaping the future of Imota lLCDA Together”.
The coordinator of NYCN Imota LCDA Comrade Adebogun Oriyomi said Chairmanship election is underway, a lot of people are jostling to get to the seat. As a proactive leader along side his team thought of what they could do differently as youths.
In an interview with Newsconnect correspondence at the event, he said;
“We are youths, whenever we fail in our own assignment to hold them accountable, then we are indirectly telling that they can do anything they like with our common wealth.
“This time around we are telling them that if you are coming and you do not have any plan, we have a plan for you. We have a plan for ourselves. At the end of this program we are going to have a communique which will transform into a developmental plan for Imota LCDA in the next ten years.
“Out of this plan, the person that will be there will spend 8 years. It will be annual program. We will present the document and in evaluating performance, you would tell us what you have achieved.
“There is no way you can come next year and tell us you have not done anything. Compared to the previous year that we have not been engaging them.
“We will set up a monitoring and evaluating team to monitor what they are doing. We can’t do it alone. We will liase with traditional rulers, with fathers in diaspora to make sure we have the necessary authority so that they can actually come up with what we like.
“By the time we have 2.0, we want all stakeholders on ground not just political appointees and elected officials. The youths, students, imota country club, come to us to tell us what you have done in the last one year.
“What have you done ? Are you just there ? That is the essence of this program to ensure we position ourselves for better future in Lagos State”. He said.
Honourable Sholaja Saka Nurudeen, Former House of Assembly member. Lagos state at the event shared his view of what the attribute of the next Imota LCDA chairman should be like. In an interview with journalists at the event je said;
“He must be a graduate to start with and be must have knowledge to coapt with complex people and situations. From what i saw now, everyone of them merits it”. He said.
Olumide Adeleke Shofowora, a councilorship aspirant for Maja ward b Imota lcda said there is a saying that a future you cannot picture, you can’t feature.
In an interview with Newsconnect, he said!
“If you are going to a place, you have to plan yourself ahead of the place. What is happening here is sitting down and making a chart for the future. Surely anybody who becomes the winner would know what and what to do.
“This gathering is very crucial for the development of the community. This will create a kind of mental shift from what we are used to before’. He said.
Dr wasiu owoyele, Medical Officer of Health Imota LCDAd in an interview with journalists at the event said;
“This is a well conceived idea, the essence is to bring stakeholders across different sectors of human endeavors particularly health, education, security, economy and social engagement.
“It will serve as a blueprint for the next ten years as a shirt term plan so that policy makers, people that determine the political direction can have a platform and action plan to follow”. He said
All the councilorship aspirants in Imota LCDA were interviewed by Newsconnect, and one of the Chairmanship aspirants in Imota LCDA after their panel sessions spoke with this medium.
The Ranadu of Imota HRM Oba (Dr) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare -Agoro Olufoworetie II, at the event said the significance of the event is the exhibition of their think tanks, professionals, gentlemen who have got brains.
“They sell themselves before our people,we are exposing them for everyone to know who and who are in Imota that can represent Imota anywhere and perform creditably well for the upliftment of Imota and environment”.
