Abdul Mojeed Oloyede

The Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the Mayoress of Ikosi-isheri LCDA Mr Abdul Mojeed Oloyede has challenged some petitioners, their supporters and aggrieved ex-aspirants in Ikosi-isheri at the 2025 APC Chairmanship Primary Election to present evidence that Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada has contested chairmanship election twice before or to provide electoral results that has her name twice on it.

Newsconnect reports that Oloyede made this assertion at a press briefing organized by his office to clarify a misleading narrative peddled in the media by the aggrieved parties at the primary.

Oloyede posited that they rely majorly on the provisions of Section 137 and 182 of the (Fourth alteration No 16) ACT 2017 to skew the narrative , hence it is important to educate them with a press conference, if peradventure they were acting out of ignorance, he said.

Altered section 137 provides that “A person who was sworn-in as President to complete the term for which another person was elected as President shall not be elected to such office for more than a single term”.

In the same vein, Altered section 182 of the 1999 Nigeria constitution provides that ‘A person who was sworn in as Governor to complete the term for which another person was elected as Governor shall not be elected to such office for more than a single term”

Oloyede said;

” The law is out there, i challenge them to show me just a section of the law that talks about local government. Princess has only contested election once, she is going for her second term now. She won the primaries. If anybody is aggrieved with that, let them vent it at the appeal committee set up by APC and not to spread falsehood about 1999 constitution.

” They are deliberately spreading falsehood. They raised the issue of Agbado Oke-Odo in a guise to impugne the reputation of the All Progressive Congress, they raised a narrative of double standard.

” In the case of Agbado Oke-Odo, The incumbent chairman was screened, as a matter of fact he got the highest numbers of votes in the screening just the same way Princess Abolanle Bada was also screened.

“So where is the double standard coming from. He contested the election, but he lost. In the case of Samiat Abolanle Bada, she contested the election but she won. So at no point was Agbado Okeodo disqualified for the purpose of this scenario.

“They raised the issue that the late former chairman Oyesanya , may God rest his soul died after using 2 years. Princess as a result of necessity completed the second term.

“Princess has only contested election once, i challenge anybody to bring out electoral result that has the name of Princess twice. It is just once. If you had lost at the primary and not satisfied with the processes, the APC has launched an appeal committee for aggrieved people who wish to challenge the process.

“They should go and vent their grievances with the appeal committee not to start and pushing out lies against the constitution. Not to start importing sections into our ground norm.

“These are falsehood pushed out by people that are perceived to be members of this All Progressive Congress. I will not sit down and fold my hands to allow people who have little or no knowledge about law misrepresent the provisions of 1999 constitution.

“That is the ground norm. The 1999 constitution is supreme than any law. The electoral law in Lagos States clearly in section 24 or 25 the criteria to be a local government chairman. Age 25 and above, you must be a party person, these among others are all the qualifications princess Samiat met”.
