The long over due gathering for aggrieved candidates and stakeholders of Labour party from the last general election in Nigeria and off-cycle elections in 2024 was actualised at fanfare. According to the convener Omotayo Bashorun, the adult night out activity was organised to celebrate and promote peace and unity among ‘Elupee’ members”.

Newsconnect reports that ELUUPEE ADULT NIGHT OUT was deliberately organised according to the organisers to unwind participants having survived all that has happened to them during their election, in court and as Nigerians.

The Candidate of LP in the House of Assembly in Constituency 2 during the 2023 general election Imolede Ibukun Josiah talked to journalists about the significance of the event.

In his words, he said;

“Our party didn’t do too well in year 2024 election, we lost almost all the election we contested. From Edo state election to Ondo state and the bye-election for House of Rep in Surulere.

Nevertheless in all, for the fact that we are still alive, it is a call for us to celebrate ourselves, after the celebration, we go back to the drawing board, and see how we can come out stronger and better to face the local government elections that will happen in Lagos and some other parts of the country in 2025.

Participants here are largely people who have contested in all the local governments, LG chairmen and the rest. This event is for those of us that are not fanatically religious, the expectation is to have fun after the abuses, Insults we have faced”.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a Humanitarian Service Award to Honourable Omotayo Bashorun in recognition of his contributions to humanity.

In his acceptance message, Basorun humbly described himself as a chief servant rather than a leader, emphasizing his commitment to serving the people and advancing their welfare.

Stakeholders’ Perspectives
Hon. Aboyewa Olayemi, a stakeholder from Ibeju-Lekki, lauded the efforts of the Ibeju-Lekki LP Chairman, Comrade Iyke, in ensuring the success of the event. Despite the challenges at these yuletide period, she noted the impressive turnout. “The turnout is massive. I was not expecting this huge success,” she said.

She also highlighted LP’s grassroots initiatives in Ibeju-Lekki, particularly in empowering women and youths. She called on all party members to unite and work towards achieving LP’s goals.

Erstwhile LP Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 aspirant, Matthew Alozie, reiterated the importance of the event.

His remark!

“We are here to dine and wine, but more importantly, to familiarize and better position Labour Party for the challenges ahead,” he said.
