The Press Society (TPS), in collaboration with CAVSI, is organizing a one-day interactive forum aimed at empowering parents, caregivers, and community and religious leaders with tools to understand and address children’s substance use and its effects.
This forum, themed “Parental Responsibility in Understanding Children’s Substance Use, Abuse, and Effects,” will provide participants with insights into the critical role parents play in reducing substance misuse among youths.
With increasing concerns over substance abuse, organizers are focusing on the need for parents to adopt a more intentional and proactive approach to child-rearing.
“Parents need to be equipped with the knowledge to better understand and support their children, as this can be instrumental in curbing substance misuse in our communities,” the Assistant Secretary of The Press Society noted.
The forum will also feature an outreach component, offering basic foodstuffs at discounted prices to ease the burden of the current economic crisis.
“This initiative is part of our commitment to support families not just with information but also with practical assistance,” He said.
Following this event, plans are underway to expand the program to additional communities, creating broader access to education on substance abuse prevention and support for families.
