“This is a call to service and it is something I am very conscious about. In the wisdom of Mr Governor, he deemed it fit to do the swearing in of all the 57 chairmen on a Sunday. Considering that constitutional requirement cuts off the last administration by midnight of a Saturday.
“Despite being on a Sunday, he went ahead and sworn in the 57 local government chairman. Of course that is a sign that the governor wants us to hit the ground running from day one.
“Of course I resume work Monday and and of course we have started work as we deem fit. We just did the proclamation of the house which is of course the swearing of councilors into office.

“As you have witnessed, you can see the peaceful process and procedure that they have adopted. It shows we are relatively peaceful people within this community, and of course the councillors understand all the rights and positions.
“They are another arm of government, they have legislative duties to guide this administration. I believe honestly we are going to work together, we are going to collaborate to achieve this great journey together.
“We appreciate all the support our people have given us, we want them to continue to support this government. This is a government that will sustain all that we have achieved in the past eight years and of course there is a lot to be reviewed in the coming days.
“We have started the journey, we have started very early, and I can assure you, a lot has gone on in the last few hours”.

“We must not be far from the people and ensure that we fix what the people want.
“Our activity is going to be in tangent with what the chairman’s activities are, we are not working at par, we are working together as a team.

“So we are going to sit down with the Chairman, look at his programs, and look at how we can make byelaws to help those programs come to fruition. That is our duty”.
