In a bid to elevate Nigeria’s telecommunications sector to global standards, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been actively pursuing strategic partnerships with countries worldwide. Under the leadership of Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, efforts have been made to foster cooperation and collaboration with various nations, including Sweden.

The Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Annika Hahn-Englund, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Maida at the NCC headquarters in Abuja. The meeting was aimed at discussing and enhancing the existing areas of partnership between the Commission and Sweden, particularly focusing on capacity building and skills development initiatives.

During the meeting, Dr. Maida emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and capacity development in line with the strategic blueprint set forth by the Honourable Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani. He highlighted the significance of learning from Swedish counterparts to enhance the expertise of NCC staff.

Ambassador Hahn-Englund reaffirmed the Swedish Embassy’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and Sweden, emphasizing the mutual benefits in both diplomatic and economic spheres. The discussions between NCC and the Swedish Government signify a promising collaboration that aims to elevate the telecommunications sector in Nigeria and foster international cooperation in the field.
