Nigerian youths had been charged to actively participate in the political affairs of their communities so they can have a sense of belonging and be part of the decision making processes.
Newsconnect reports that while speakers were trying to justify the Renew Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu at the 16th edition of Lagos Ikeja City Awards Ceremony, the discussion of keying youths into the narrative was at the front burner.
The National Chairman of AATNT Otunba Abdul Falil, Abayomi Odunowo, who was also an awardee at the event told journalists that the value system in Nigeria needs to be worked on. In his own words, he said;
“Nigerian youths are the most hardworking people I have ever met in my entire world. When you look at it viz-a-viz the population, very few percentage are the lazy ones. A lot of them are very hardworking.
“I would implore them to participate in politics, because if you don’t participate, you are not on the table, and you have no reason to complain”. He said .
The Guest speaker at the event Otunba Segun Adewale said one thing that has distorted our youths in this economy is the advent of social media. He said everybody wants to make money on social media leaving the tangible areas of youth developments.
“I want to believe that the youths have a reason and purpose to be part of governance, my advice for the youths is to see governance as an integral part of their growth.
“If the youths are determined to be part of governance, they will get it”. He said .
The convener of Lagos Ikeja City Award Sola ….said he is glad to see the favour of the people supporting the event yearly.
“This is a community award for people that have done so much in their areas of endeavours in the community at large.
“The inspiring profile of Lagos Ikeja city award recepient is a testament and attestation of the the impact the award ceremony is having over the years”. He said
