Veteran broadcaster, Citizen Jones Usen, marked a remarkable 50-year milestone in Nigeria’s broadcasting industry with a grand celebration and book launch. The event, held at the LCCI Building, Ikeja, in partnership with Enterprise TV, brought together media personalities, family, and friends to honor Jones’ dedication and contributions.

Evans Ufeli, MD/CEO of Enterprise TV, praised Jones: “He has dedicated and devoted his time extensively to this course and made remarkable imprints in the sand of time.

He has given so much to this society, and this is the time when I think the society should remember him.”

Ufeli emphasized the evolving nature of journalism: “I defy the ideology that journalism should be what it is from the old. The profession is changing in a lot of ways. If you look at, the CNN for example and compare it to the very old TV stations we’ve had in the world, you will see the difference.

Now Journalism or broadcasting , is not just telling us what has happened, today you tell what is happening.

Every profession has it’s own unique interferences, disruption happens and they are inevitable”

Jayne Ogoye, Jones’ daughter and a journalist, described her father as “a disciplinarian, an amazing father, brilliant, and talented.” She shared: “Growing up, my dad was very strict, but with age, he became softer.”
