The President of Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has demonstrated that one good turn deserves another.
Tinubu in his appreciation to electorates in Ikorodu for their massive turnout at the polls in 2023 general elections to support him, his party APC, and their candidates empowered electorates through the i-Care foundation of Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson.
Newsconnect reports that Honourable Babajimi Benson mentioned this at Mechanic village on Monday in Ikorodu , the venue for the mega-empowerment.
We gathered that some of the beneficiaries include artisans, traders, and Persons living with Disabilities (PWD). The different items carted away by beneficiaries ranges from mini-buses, Keke NAPEP (Maruwa), deep freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, dryers, power generators, and more. Also included solar-powered kiosks stocked with goods, tagged ‘Neighbors Solar-powered Smart Kiosk’ emphasizing his commitment to sustainable empowerment.
The Federal Lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency Honourable Babajimi Benson in his welcome salvo at the mega-empowerment event said;
“”This is not my initiative alone. On behalf of President Tinubu and the APC, I am here to thank Ikorodu for its overwhelming support during the 2023 elections. You came first among all federal constituencies in Nigeria, despite limited resources and polling units. This empowerment is Mr. President’s way of saying thank you.”
The lawmaker reiterates commitment to his constituents of brighter days ahead.
“In 2025, Ikorodu will have its first flyover and bridges, easing our infrastructural challenges. Tax reforms under President Tinubu will ease burdens on SMEs, ensuring those earning minimum wage are exempted. Rest assured, the vulnerable will not be overtaxed.”
Different beneficiaries expressed their excitement and promised to judiciously utilise them.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adesanya Tola, in an interview with our correspondent at the event said. “I’ve been unable to start my business due to a lack of funds. Today, I’m grateful to God and JB for this life-changing opportunity,” .
APC Lagos State part Chairman Hon. Pastor Ojelabi Cornelius applauded JB’s grassroots leadership.and giant strides. In his words ,
“JB has set a foundation for future generations of leaders. His actions continue to strengthen the APC’s support base in Lagos.”
Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, in his address, advised beneficiaries to cherish the tools, saying, “Don’t sell these items. Use them to achieve self-reliance and sustain your families.”
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing JB’s grassroots impact. “During these hard times, JB’s efforts provide crucial succor. Let’s continue to support his leadership for the remarkable work he’s doing in Ikorodu federal constituency.”
Other dignitaries, including Hon. Balogun from Ibeju Lekki, called JB a “nationalist extraordinaire,” highlighting his legislative achievements, including five bills signed into law. Prince Jumoke Okoya described JB as a “Godsend,” urging beneficiaries to leverage the empowerment to uplift themselves and their communities.
