In their appreciation of the giant strides of some community members in Owode Orile CDA towards promoting peace and tranquility in the axis, the leadership of Owode Orile CDA has decided to organise football competition to celebrate their sterling qualities.
Newsconnect reports that this is the second edition of the football competition in the community.
In an interview with the CDA Chairman of Owode Orile CDA, Honourable Azeez Adejumo at the opening match of the competition,
between Atlantic Warriors and Maro FC Which ended 5:0, he said ;
“I am happy to have every member of my community on ground here. This has become an annual activity, we celebrate some of us having their birthdays, we organise a football match competitions within communities.
“We have participants from Ajegunle, from Mile 12, Alapere, Agboyi-Ketu that come to this venue every year to celebrate with us.
“We organise this to promote unity and peaceful coexistence between Mile 12 Owode Orile. The youths of Owode Orile are peaceful, hardworking. We have graduates, talented musicians and footballers among our youths.
“All we are clamoring for is peaceful coexistence between Mile 12 and Owode Orile and all the neighbouring communities within Mile 12 axis.
“We want God almighty to bring back that peace we grow up to witness”.
One of the celebrated members of the community Comrade Alex Omoteyinse, an activist talked about his relationship with the CDA, feelings and word of admonition. In his words , he said;
“I am here to answer the call of my people, this is the second edition, they claimed they want to use it to honour me as my birthday is on the 25th of December.
“They called me last year to put this together to foster unity among the youth within the local government, within communities that are indices of violence. I organise peace talk among the worrying factions in 2021.
“As a man of peace, everytime I hear their call, am always there in answering them. I want them to remain peaceful because that is what I stand for, I will never be part or participate in anywhere there is violence. So the essence of this competition is to foster unity among mile 12 community and the youths”. He said .
A member of Orita Fogo community Victor Orume while fielding questions by journalists among other things said
the competition is basically organised to foster relationship, take the youths off the street from doing things that are illegal.
“This is the 3rd edition , majorly organized to celebrate the true legends of this community. We have 12 teams in this year’s edition, while we had 8 last year”. He said.
