Honourable Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, Member representing Kosofe Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, has extended his warmest congratulations to Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe (Executive Chairman, Kosofe Local Government), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada (Executive Chairperson, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA), Hon. (Mrs.) Adetola Adunni Abubakar (Executive Chairman, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA), and all elected councillors across Greater Kosofe on the successful presentation of their Certificates of Return by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

Hon. Okanlawon praised the peaceful and transparent nature of the electoral process and described the presentation of Certificates of Return as the official endorsement of the people’s will and the final seal of legitimacy for those who emerged victorious. He underscored the symbolic and constitutional importance of the certificates, which not only affirm electoral success but confer the authority to begin legislative and executive duties in service to the grassroots.

In particular, Hon. Okanlawon gave special recognition to the elected Councillors across the wards in Kosofe Local Government, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, and Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, describing them as the true foot soldiers and legislative lifeblood of local governance. He emphasized their strategic roles in shaping development at the ward level, providing oversight for the executive arm, enacting bye-laws, and ensuring that the aspirations of the people are faithfully represented and protected.

“Our Councillors are not mere political appendages—they are community advocates, grassroots legislators, and vital agents of democratic governance. Their emergence reflects the deep trust reposed in them by the people to speak, act, and legislate on their behalf at the most immediate level of government,” Hon. Okanlawon stated.

He noted that the diversity, vibrancy, and political experience of the elected councillors across Greater Kosofe reflect the strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s political machinery, as well as its commitment to inclusive representation, youth participation, and gender balance in local governance.

While urging the Councillors to be exemplary in conduct and visionary in service, Hon. Okanlawon reminded them that their success would be judged not by titles or accolades, but by the tangible impact they make in their communities—through responsive legislation, public engagement, and developmental oversight.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between councillors and executive chairmen, calling for a harmonious working relationship that places public interest above personal or partisan considerations. According to him, Kosofe’s transformation must be a shared project, driven by shared values and collective accountability.

In closing, Hon. Okanlawon reaffirmed his personal and institutional commitment to working with all the newly elected local government officials, promising legislative support, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships that will empower them to deliver quality service to the people of Kosofe.

“Together, let us renew our commitment to progress, deepen democratic values, and build a Greater Kosofe that works for every ward, every family, and every future generation.”
