A devastating attack by Unknown gunmen on Saturday ,has tragically claimed the life of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Councillorship Candidate , Adeyinka Adeleke in Jide Jones area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area, Ogun State .
The deceased was the APC flag bearer for the Councillorship seat in Ward 15 of the said Local Government Area, ahead of the November 16 Local Government Election.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen arrived in a dark-tinted vehicle, opening fire indiscriminately and sparking widespread chaos .
It was also gathered that Adeleke was attacked and shot by these men who fled the scene, leaving him mortally wounded .
Footage of the tragic incident emerged online, revealing the lifeless body of the Councillorship flag bearer as bystanders lamented in anguish .
According to a Source, ” The attack was brutal. The gunmen came in a tinted car, shot Adeyinka, and then hit him with stones until he died. One of them even stepped out and shot him at close range before smashing his head to ensure he was dead. The area was filled with tension as people scrambled for safety.”
Another anonymous source revealed that the incident occured in the early hours of the afternoon, “The incident took place around 2 pm, catching everyone off guards. The exact circumstances are still unknown, including whether it’s cult-related. As a result, the area has become increasingly tense, with businesses closing early. It’s a tragic situation,”
Prior to his tragic passing, the deceased was a dedicated Transport Union Worker in the Panseke Area of Abeokuta.
The family of late Adeyinka Adeleke has however taken his corpse for a proper burial.
