‎In a show of gratitude and solidarity, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikeja Branch, organized a surprise walk to celebrate the birthday of Hon. Prince Seyi Lawal, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

‎The peaceful walk, which began at the popular Ikeja Under Bridge and ended at Oregun, was also aimed at declaring public support for Hon. Lawal’s continued representation in the Assembly, with the youth leaders chanting slogans and carrying placards with messages like “No Vacancy in Ikeja Constituency 1” and “Seyi Lawal for Continuity.”

Addressing the press during the walk, the leader of the council, Comrade Blessing Omogenafen, praised Hon. Lawal for his consistent support for youth development initiatives since assuming office.

‎”We put this walk together to celebrate and appreciate Hon. Prince Seyi Lawal. He has been a strong supporter of the youth since he got into office. This was not planned with him — it’s a surprise to show our genuine love and appreciation,” she said.

Comrade Blessing also offered prayers for the lawmaker, wishing him continued success and a second term in office.

‎Similarly, another member of the council, Miss Tenife Alero, expressed her gratitude, saying:

‎”Ever since he became a lawmaker, he has kept the youth in mind. He supports us, listens to us, and always makes himself available. I pray that God strengthens him to continue the good work he has started.”

‎In a heartwarming response, Hon. Prince Seyi Lawal, visibly moved by the gesture, thanked the NYCN Ikeja Branch for the surprise celebration.

‎”This is truly unexpected. I’m highly impressed and grateful. I didn’t know the love was this deep. This will motivate me to do even more. I now see that I have a strong support base among the youth,” he said.

‎He also promised to provide branded uniforms for the council members, stating that he wants to see them visibly standing behind him in future activities.

‎”I will brand uniforms for you all. I want to always see you at my back — let’s move forward together,” he assured.

As part of the event, the National Youth Council officially named Hon. Prince Seyi Lawal as a patron of the group — a recognition of his commitment to youth empowerment and community development.

The event concluded with chants of solidarity, music, and a renewed call for continuity in leadership as the 2027 elections draw near.
