Nigerian Idol Season 9 witnessed a dramatic twist in its semi-final episode, with a surprise song selection, a judge’s save, and a heart-warming reunion courtesy of the Bigi brand. This past Sunday’s episode saw intense competition and emotional moments as the remaining contestants battled for a spot in the finale.
In the last episode, Ric Hassani, Omawumi, and 9ice chose songs for the remaining finalists – Mira Clear, Lammy, Chioma, and Chima. This exciting twist added a strategic element, as contestants had to determine which judge picked their song. Ric Hassani won, choosing the most songs and earning a game-changing advantage: the power to save an eliminated contestant.
The competition heated up with stunning performances. Chioma captivated with Jodie’s “Kuchi Kuchi,” while Chima’s soulful delivery of “Not the Girl” by Dare Art Alade left the judges in awe, a performance that proved he is ready for the spotlight. Even though Mira Clear was ultimately eliminated, her passionate rendition of Omawumi’s “If You Ask Me” earned her a standing ovation from the judges. Lammy’s heartfelt interpretation of “African Queen” by Tuface.
Thanks to Bigi’s heart-warming surprise, the contestants were reunited with their beloved parents live on stage. The emotional moment visibly boosted their spirits and brought smiles to the faces of everyone watching.
The remaining Top 3, Chima, Lammy, and Chioma, returned for a second round with the musical group 121Selah. Each contestant delivered another powerful performance, with Chima’s amazing delivery of Stevie Wonder’s “As”, Chioma showing her range with Jennifer Hudson’s “One Night Only,” and Lammy’s uplifting performance of Alexander Burke’s “Hallelujah.”
The exciting evening show closed with the beautiful rendition of 121 Selah’s “Let Me In”.
