The Nigeria Police Force has announced the commencement of a nationwide training exercise for 10,000 newly recruited constables, with training sessions set to begin tomorrow, April 12, 2025, across various police colleges and training institutions in the country.

The announcement was made in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP). The intensive training program is aimed at equipping the recruits with the necessary knowledge, discipline, and skills to effectively serve their communities and reinforce law enforcement efforts nationwide.

Ahead of the official start of training, the Force Headquarters conducted an orientation program for Commandants and Directing Staff of the police training institutions. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, was represented virtually by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Frank Mba, mni.

During the orientation, the IGP emphasized the importance of aligning the training with ongoing police reforms, urging the Commandants to uphold ethical standards and professional conduct throughout the training process. He stressed that the quality of instruction and mentorship provided during this phase would be crucial in shaping the future of the Nigeria Police Force.

“The recruits must be groomed not only in tactical and operational skills but also in values that promote integrity, respect for human rights, and community partnership,” the IGP said.

He assured that the welfare of the recruits remains a top priority, particularly in areas of feeding, accommodation, and learning environment, to ensure that the recruits are well-prepared and supported throughout the duration of their training.

The IGP also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support and commitment to strengthening the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. He described the recruitment of 10,000 officers as a strategic step toward enhancing public safety and boosting the operational strength of the Force.

With the training exercise set to begin, the Force urged the new recruits to embrace the ethics of the profession, maintain discipline, and commit themselves fully to the training process.

This latest recruitment is part of a broader reform agenda aimed at rebuilding public trust and ensuring more responsive, accountable, and professional policing across Nigeria.
