In a bid to address long-standing infrastructure deficits, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has embarked on an immediate repairs on the dilapidated sections of the East-West Road
Connecting Warri, Delta State to Benin ,Edo State.
Priority will be given to renovating dilapidated sections along Weekend, Ibadulume, Amukpe roundabout, Mosoga, and Ologbo routes, which have become commuter nightmares.
The managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, accompanied by the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai and other top officials, who surveyed the ongoing East-West road repairs, expressed sincere gratitude towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Swift action in addressing the vital sections which connects six oil-producing states in the Niger Delta.
He also applauded the Federal Government for its timely response towards the public complaints and reinstating the East-West Road Project Contract after years of Abandonment.
In the same veil,Dr. Ogbuku is optimistic that the current repair works on the East -West Road,supervised by the Federal Government, will provide a permanent solution to the long-standing infrastructure issues.
He also appealed to local residents, surrounding communities and commuters to bear the temporary inconvenience and support the construction efforts, guaranteeing rapid completion.
“We’ve deployed contractors and equipment, and I seek the communities’ patience. The damaged sections will be repaired swiftly, with completion expected within two weeks.”
The Managing Director of the construction firm handling the project, Mr. Adara Opeoluwa, briefed the NDDC team, revealing that the repairs will cover a three-kilometer stretch, focusing on critical areas including Ibadulume, Amukpe roundabout, Mosoga, and Ologbo.
