….. Airtel Nigeria Promises Further Collaboration With NCC To Train More Of Nigeria Youth On Telecom Network

Nigeria Government and Academia have been urged not to avoid responsibilities to achieve success in our Telecom industries, by integrating and ensure that we equip Grassroot intenship in the community so as to bridging the Telecom Value Chain Skill Gaps in the country. This was disclosed on Tuesday, during the Nigerian Communication Commission Stakeholders Consultative Forum On Skill Gaps in the Telecom Value Chain held at the Radisson Blu Hotel Gra Ikeja Lagos.

Speaking at the Stakeholders Forum, The CEO of Sycom Integrated Solution UK, Mr. Abdulrahman Akanbi expressed that every skill gap in Tech or Telecom industries is a global Challenge all across the ecosystem and it is not only around the area of Telecom.

While he stated in the panel session, that the better way to address whatever challenge it bring in Nigeria is for all hands to be on deck by looking out for the people at the Grassroots to empower them with beautiful trainings and opportunities at different companies set of experience.

Also, the Director of HR, Airtel Nigeria, Mrs. Bimpe Ayo Elias commended the management of NCC for such a wonderful forum, and promised to further engage Nigerian Communication Commission in collaboration to train more youth in Nigeria to know more about the beauty of Telecom Network.

he said, that there is no country we go in the world where they do not have their own unique challenges which make them Japa and move to another country

And the availability of skills in the country make the people seek for more opportunities.

Meanwhile, this made the Stakeholders in nigeria ecosystem to come together and dialogue further to create opportunity for the benefit of all. She said.

However, she stated, that Airtel has been doing a lot to ensure no one is left behind in Nigeria, whereby the company has a digital hub to groom younger ones in Nigerians, through which it partners with the Universities in order to organise an intenship programme among the students on industrial training even for the Graduate.

She said that Airtel shall be running course in the nearest future and those students who have been out of school between 0 to 2 years will be created an intenship for their benefits apart of partnering with the Universities, because the company want them to be exposed to many things in acquiring further knowledge   to be more productive and be connected in the Industry.

In his address with the Cfame News correspondent, the CEO Dorman Long Engineering Limited, Mr. Chris Ijelu said what he discovered from the forum today is not a challenge, but it is an opportunity because from his side of view, we do not see anything many people called skill gap.

But the only thing that can help the company in Nigeria today is that the Government should enforce the policy which will protect the Company capability in the nation by deliberately think about Nigeria first and also to invest more in training more companies without burning the people or overlook their interests.

He added, that the biggest Gavernizing Kettle in West African Sub-region is owned by the Dormanlong company which can do better thing if right policy is enforced and implemented, because the company can do up to 90,000 Tonnes of Steels per annum and 12 to 50,000 metric Tonnes per annum of fabrication.

Saying, that Dormanlong is an Infrastructural Company which has been existing for the past 76 years in giving capacity, in manufacturing sector and oil and gas sector, also training more people.

Again, the MD / CEO of Coleman Wires and Cables, Mr. George Onafowokan commended the NCC for organising such a sustainable programme among the stakeholders for better development in the country.

Therefore, he stressed that it is important to encourage further training and creating capacity and opportunities to create development and sustainable development goals.

Also, he said Government need to create guaranteed directive deliberately and opportunities for local contents in order to ensure that jobs are guaranteed in the country and clearly defined in Nigeria Telecom sector without any attempt of importing simcards.

And we must develop one industry locally and right investors, whereby the Government also will create the policy and to make import tariff to be put in place for an enabling environment. He said

The President of the Association of the Telecom Companies of Nigeria, Mr. Tony Izuagbe said that it is high time Nigeria ensured that the Youth at the Polytechnic have a year industrial training, so as to utilize what they have learnt in the institution for better development of the nation.

Because most of the people we see in Nigeria industry are not trained in right standard and this need to be appropriately corrected.

This should make us start partnering with the companies for proper training of all members,as we start having incentives programmes that will encourage our members to take people from different industry sectors for further trainings.
