As part of efforts at transforming Anambra, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) awarded the construction of the St. Stephen – Isiokwe Road Project to New Idea Construction Company Limited at the cost of N1Billion.

ANSEC approved the contract at its 17th meeting held on 7th August, 2025, at the Light House Awka, the new government house.

The State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, disclosed this after the Council’s session, which also saw the approval of other road infrastructure aimed at turning Anambra into the Dubai Silicon Valley of the country, where business and economic activities flourish.

Mefor affirmed that ANSEC also approved the award of the construction of the Ugwuaku-Ibugughu-Osu-Umuchu Road worth N2,754,734,086.72 to Benejaf International Limited, as well as the rehabilitation of the Amichi-Osumenyi Road, which would be completed by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) at the cost of N670,968,919.05.

The Council has cautioned against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, urging citizens to rely on credible sources for information and to verify facts before sharing, and this aims to promote a peaceful and informed environment, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections in Anambra State.

Other projects approved by the Council recently include the supply and installation of solar street lights and earthing of Anambra Broadcasting Service Stations, the construction of a solar-powered borehole and rehabilitation of five non-functional boreholes at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, and the provision of hybrid power-driven Water Supply Schemes to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

Consequently, it awarded a contract for the provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities to Nkwo Umunze and other nearby communities to ease the problem of water supply in that part of the state.

Likewise, the Council approved the extension of the provision of the WASH facilities to the Chief Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, in Awka, the state capital, for the well-being of public service personnel working at the complex; as well as the supply and installation of electrical and mechanical appurtenances at General Hospital, Anaku.
