In an interview with Newsconnect correspondence the Co-founder of Mate2mate Foundation Omolola Tanimowo talked about her partnership with Ngo and the significance of the event.
In her words, she said;
“We have received grace to partner with the likes of Mirabel Rape Center State Universal Educational board ( Counselling Unit), countless schools and numerous churches, making impact both in Nigeria and abroad.
“We know that Valentine season has been characterized with lots of sexual activities among teenagers. We organised this seminar to remind them that there’s more to life than chasing after shadows”.
“The major messages they took home is knowing that having a crush on their mates or going into dating now will jeopardize their glorious destiny. There is time and season for everything under the sun.
“We told them also, that having feelings for an opposite sex now is normal because of the puberty state they are. They are experiencing body changes and hormones responsible for the development of sexual organs and feelings are also at work in preparing them for their full adulthood, but notwithstanding, they must get busy with other activities that will take them into their glorious destiny.
“We let them know that when you’re facing something, you’re backing something. One of the consequences of having Crush on their mates is having illicit relationship which will make them to start having sex and aborting those unwanted pregnancies.
“They can also contact STDs which can send them into their early grave.
“By God’s grace we will be having our Children’s day celebration on May 27th this year. Where we will be sensitising our people about the high activities of Peadophiles and also campaigning against it.
“We had our first one about 6 years ago where we took over 300 children to the seat of power in Alausa, Lagos state, where Honourable Desmond addressed us and assure us that the government will surely look into it. It’s our 3rd edition and it’s going to be BIG by God’s grace”. Omolola concluded.
