….GRADUATION CEREMONY OF STUDENTS OF ‘WE CAN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM’.

Lagos Mainland Local Government, in conjunction with NEMAPP/SPEED UP LAGOS Empowerment initiative for Women, graduated over fifty (50) students at the just concluded two (2) weeks Vocational Skills Acquisition Training Program for Women within the Local Government Area at the Council Secretariat on Thursday, 25th of July 2024.

Considering the role of women in our society today, women need to be empowered with a skill or more because not all will have the opportunity to get a white-collar job. Empowering with a skill will make them independent and not dependent on others. Any skills acquired will serve as a source of livelihood for those who are not working and additional income for those already engaged in business.

The Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, Hon. (Mrs) Omolola Rashidat Essien, at the ceremony, advised the students that what they have learned should not be kept under the cupboard or on a shelf but to work more on the knowledge imparted to them for a positive change. She further said they have acquired a skill with which they can establish themselves and learn marketing strategies on how they can sell their products to yield profits. She wished them the very best in their life endeavors.

The Supervisor for WAPA, Mrs. Ajola encouraged them to be consistent, diligent, and hardworking in carrying out their businesses to achieve great results at the end of the day.

HOD WAPA, Mrs Lawal, gave her a vote of thanks while appreciating the Executive Chairman for her steadfast caring and continued support towards the community Empowerment program.

The graduates appreciated the effort of the government to better their lives. They showcased their products, demonstrating how they were produced and what they were used for.

Guests present at the occasion included political functionaries, representatives of NEMAPP/SPEED UP LAGOS, and the management team.
