The pace-setting Islamic organization, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), has called on politicians and investors to appoint more reputable women of substance to leadership positions. The National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Babalola Ganiyat Omowunmi, made this appeal yesterday while dispatching an advance team for the 8th Biennial Women Conference. The conference is scheduled to hold from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28 in Abeokuta.
In her statement, Alhaja Ganiyat Omowunmi emphasized the importance of women’s leadership in various sectors. She noted that empowering women and placing them in strategic positions is crucial for national development. “Women bring unique perspectives and solutions to leadership roles. It is time we recognize and utilize their potential fully,” she said, urging stakeholders to take proactive steps in promoting gender equality.
NASFAT’s spiritual head, Sheikh Imam (Engr) AbdulAzeez Marufdeen Onike, also highlighted the spiritual and moral dimensions of leadership. Sheikh Onike, known for his scholarly and engineering background, underscored the need for leaders who are not only competent but also spiritually grounded. “Leadership is a trust from Allah, and those who are appointed must exhibit integrity, compassion, and a commitment to justice,” he stated, reinforcing the organization’s advocacy for ethical leadership.
Adding further significance to the event, NASFAT’s President, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, a trained career coach, business analyst, and stockbroker, will be present at the conference to lend his expertise. Alhaji AbdulRauf’s diverse professional background enhances the organization’s ability to address both spiritual and practical aspects of leadership. “We aim to blend professional excellence with spiritual values to create holistic leaders,” he remarked, emphasizing the conference’s theme: ‘Strengthening Women’s Leadership through Empowerment and Spiritual Values.’
The upcoming conference promises to be a landmark event, gathering women from across the nation to discuss empowerment strategies and leadership skills. Workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions will focus on equipping women with the necessary tools to excel in their respective fields. The event will also provide a platform for networking and mentorship, fostering a supportive community of aspiring female leaders.
NASFAT’s call to action is a reminder of the critical role women play in shaping the future. By advocating for increased female representation in leadership positions, the organization is setting a precedent for other institutions to follow. The conference at Abeokuta is expected to be a significant step forward in this ongoing journey towards gender equality and empowerment.
