The Lagos State University (LASU) management has addressed the viral social media posts about a degree certificate allegedly found at a ‘suya’ spot in Lagos, clarifying that the certificate is invalid.

In a statement, the university explained that the surname on the certificate was misspelled, rendering it invalid. The management further detailed that the certificate was recovered on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.

“The University, having recovered the certificate on November 21, 2018, wishes to make the following clarifications: The certificate in question exists but was invalidated on February 25, 2013, because the graduate’s surname was incorrectly written as ABISOYE instead of ABIOYE,” the statement read.
