ASIS 2024: REIMAGINING PROGRESS

Lagos State Government has applauded the Intervention of Sterling one Foundation at the two-day Africa Social Investment Summit ASIS 2024 in Eko Hotel & Suites which aimed towards eliciting blueprint for sustainable growth in Africa.

Newsconnect reports that the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu who was ably represented at the function by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat said some nations came together and said for us to live this mother earth, certain things have to happen. According to him, the conversation they had predicated the birth of sustainable development goals. Hamzat said the ASIS 2024 summit intention is to connect as people and harmonize workable innovations and action plan.

In his words, he said;

“Yesterday we met and various Lagos State agencies came up with programs that can lead to investment to uplift our people.

“How do we build more trains, how do we bring more buses , how do we build better hospitals. How do we protect ourselves. We discussed about all Sorts of infrastructure that can uplift our society.

“What we are discussing here today is how do we connect as a people. Meaning private sector, public sector, Community and everybody so that we can all work together to achieve this.

“We must thank Sterling-one foundation for bringing everyone together to say let’s talk about it, let’s actualise all these things we have been talking about. How do we come together as a people irrespective of what we do. Private sector, Public sector and the Community so that we can achieve the SDG goals.

“The SDG goals is work in progress, government exists all over the world to solve problems. As advance as United States is, they have issues. That is why you can see people running for elections.

“Issues would always come up, because as human beings we advance and those are the challenges. Challenges will never stop, but the essence of this summit is that we must plan and we must get better.

“In Lagos State we have our THEMES agenda, to address key sectors. Transportation, Health, , Environment, you can never get to the finish line. As humanity exist, we have to keep pursuing until it keeps getting better.and better”. He said.
