As the Chief Launcher of the newly designed Magazine by the Correspondent Chapel of NUJ Lagos Council on topical issues, LAPO Microfinance organisation thanked the organisers of the 2025 press week for associating with them.
Newconnect reports that the Director of Marketing and Communication for LAPO Micro Finance Bank Limited Oluremi Akande who was the chief launcher at the lecture, award, unveiling of the Chapel’s magazine appreciated the organisers for inviting him.

In an Interview with journalists at the event, he said the issue of misinformation is a major challenge for business owners, and cooperate institutions too. He emphasized on how misinformation spreads easily and causing revolutionary risks for organisations.

Akande said information can mar the image and reputation of an organization.
“These are created often times to create problems for the institution. As gatekeepers, we need to be observant and watch what is going on out there. Journalists are the defense for the
defenseless, they should put self regulation in place, with that, they will be able to check misinformation before it becomes widely spread.
”Verify what you are sharing, or not even share if you can’t vouch for the integrity of the source of what you are sharing. If you most share, verify that the information you are sharing is correct”. He said.

The Managing Director of Sikken LTD Onuh Gowon said SIKKEN is not isolated in the area of misinformation simply because they are a premium product.
“A product that stands for quality and performance. It is guaranteed for its users. The quality can stand the test of time.
“You would see a situation whereby in an attempt to go for something cheaper, they go for a low quality product, and becuase we are not in line, some people would say it is original as sikkens.
”That is misinformation. We are not exempted so people, journalists should verify before making a conclusion about what they are unsure of.
An award recipient Aare Wole Ola Dada on the issue of misinformation said Until government begins to take action against this kind of irresponsibility, until government makes peddlers of fake news a scape goat, it may be difficult to curb their excesses.
”You can’t stop social media from operating but when you get people who tarnish other people’s image, people who throw fake stories around, furnished, they will desist from the irresponsibilities”.
