In his renewed effort to provide access to basic education on Lagos Island, the executive chairman of Lagos Island local government, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan has rolled out seven (7) free school buses for public primary school pupils, today wednesday 17 September 2025, at the Dr. Teslim Elias Model Primary School, Adeniji Adele road, Lagos.

Two thousand(2,000) pupils were gifted school bags, textbooks, exercise books, mathematical sets, and other learning essentials.

In his speech, Hon. Oyekan said the educational intervention scheme was strategically designed to ease pupils’ mobility to schools and lessen financial burden on parents and guardians.

He reaffirmed his commitment to qualitative education.

He enjoined the pupils to concentrate on their studies and be good ambassadors of Lagos Island.

On his part, the executive secretary of Lagos Island local government education authority, Alh. Qudus Abari lauded Hon. Oyekan’s universal basic education initiative. He described the council chairman as a trailblazer.

The All Progressives Congress(APC) Lagos Island local government area chapter chairman, Alh. Ganiu Sodiq noted that the council boss offers purposeful leadership and delivers his campaign pledges.

Speaking onbehalf of the beneficiaries, A Primary 4 Pupil, Miss Zainab Olumegbon expressed gratitude to Hon. Oyekan.

“PTO (Prince Taiwo Oyekan) is a lover of children.He organises summer coaching and gives us scholarships,” Miss Olumegbon testified.

Dignitaries present at the event were the vice chairman, Hon. Olatunji Issa Arulai Folami, High Chief Soji Ajayi-Bembe, the Obanikoro of Lagos, a representative of the Oba of Lagos, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Moshood Mayegun, Deputy State Chairman of the APC, Alh. Dosu Fashola, Alh. Shakiru Giwa, Honourable councillors, Lagos White Cap Chiefs, the council management, teachers, pupils, community leaders, and a host of others.
