
It was a day of joy, celebration, pomp, and pageantry as the newly elected Councillors were officially inaugurated by the Kosofe Council helmsman, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe.
The Executive Chairman, who was also recently re-elected and sworn in for a second term, performed the proclamation ceremony marking the constitution of the 8th Legislative Council of Kosofe.

In his address, the Chairman congratulated the seven (7) newly elected Councillors on their successful election and admonished them on the importance of their role as representatives of the great people of Kosofe, saddled with the responsibility of amplifying the voices of the people for the betterment of the masses, rather than for personal gain.
In the same vein, the Council Chairman applauded residents for their trust in his leadership and for re-electing him. He assured the people that this new tenure would be a continuation of the impactful work done during the last administration and even more.

He further reiterated his gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support for him and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and promised to deepen service delivery to communities in this second phase, with a focus on construction, maintenance of public infrastructure, and community empowerment.
The Member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, who also graced the occasion, in her remarks, thanked party stakeholders for their loyalty and congratulated the newly elected Councillors. Hon. Kafilat gave assurances of economic stability under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that the nation will experience relief and progress in due course.
In the same development, the oath of office for the Councillors was administered by the Director of the Legal Unit of the Council, Barr. Solate Modinat Omobolanle. This was followed by the first 8th Legislative Plenary Session, presided over by the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Ajayi Titilayo, where Hon. Femi Oyesile, the former Deputy Leader representing Ward C, emerged as the Leader of the 8th Legislative Council.
The 8th Legislative Council also comprises the following members:
- Hon. Kuboye Christiana (Oworo Ward A) – elected Chief Whip
- Hon. Elugbindin Abayomi (Orile Oworo Ward B) – Member
- Hon. Oluwagbenga David (Anthony Ward D) – Member
- Hon. Hakeem Oshijinrin (Mende Ward E) – elected Deputy Leader
- Hon. Baruwa Sulaimon (Ojota Ward F) – Member
- Hon. Ibrahim Olalekan Adebare (Ogudu Ward F) – elected Majority Leader
Also present at the occasion were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oluwole Sosanya; LGA Party Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Bello; other party chieftains; the Council Manager, Mrs. Mosunmola Otaiku-Okoka (who gave the welcome address); former Executive and Legislative members; His Royal Majesty, the Oloworo of Oworo, Oba Saliu; and other Royal Fathers.
Traditional rulers, the CDC Chairman and Exco members, religious leaders, market men and women, council management and staff, party members, among other esteemed dignitaries, were also in attendance.
