In an effort to combat incessant flooding caused by the blockage of drainages with refuse and waste in the council area, Kosofe Local Government, under the leadership of its proactive Executive Chairman, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, has commenced a massive evacuation of refuse and waste from schools and through house-to-house operations within the council area.

The exercise, which commenced recently, began in the Oworonshoki axis of the local government. Miyaki Street, Awolowo Street, and Surulere Street were the first areas evacuated before the exercise moved to Ogudu Junior and Senior Secondary Schools, in preparation for the resumption of academic activities. All operations were supervised by the Environmental Services Department of the Council.

Acknowledging the waterlogged terrain of the council area, the Executive Chairman, in his office, reiterated his administration’s commitment to a habitable and cleaner Kosofe. He stated that the exercise would be carried out across all seven (7) wards of the local government.

Barr. Ogunlewe further disclosed that a desilting exercise would commence soon to enhance the free flow of rainwater during this season and prevent flooding. “We shall continue to ensure that our Environmental Support Initiative tackles all environmental challenges and makes Kosofe one of the cleanest in the state,” he said.
