Dear Resilient People of Kosofe,
As we commemorate another Democracy Day, let us pause to reflect on the arduous journey that brought us this far. Today, we honor the indomitable spirit of countless pro-democracy activists and freedom fighters who courageously stood against tyranny, risking their lives and livelihoods for the Nigeria we enjoy today.
We remember icons like Chief MKO Abiola, whose supreme sacrifice became the cornerstone of our democratic resurgence. We salute heroes like Kudirat Abiola, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Beko Ransome-Kuti, Olatunde Olayinka Olasogba and many others who faced persecution, imprisonment and even death, their unwavering resolve fueling the flames of liberty that now burn bright.
Their struggle wasn’t in vain. Today, in Kosofe and across Nigeria, we freely elect our leaders, express our opinions, and shape our destiny. Yet, our democracy is young and fragile. The challenges we face – from security concerns to economic hurdles – test our resolve.
But we, the people of Kosofe, are resilient. Let us honor our heroes by actively participating in this democracy. Let’s vote wisely, hold leaders accountable, and contribute positively to our community. Together, through patience, perseverance, and patriotism, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams – a nation of justice, prosperity, and pride.
