In commemoration of the year 2O24 Tree Planting Exercise today at the Council Secretariat,Ogudu,
the Executive Chairman,Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe ably represented by his Vice Chairman,Hon.
Sosanya Oluwole reiterated the commitment of his Administration in combating the global problem of climate change degrading nature.

Speaking further,the Council helmsman emphasised on the need for people to imbibe the culture of reforestation as a major tool to save the world from degradation while also at the same time profer Permanent solutions to aid regeneration,renewal and rebirth of a healthier atmospheric condition.

In the same vain,the Council Chairman commended the efforts of the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources which is the overseeing Ministry for Lagos State Parks and Gardens (LASPARK) in charge of planting and nuturing of trees.He expressed the role continous sensitisation plays in creating awareness on the need to help protect nature from causative elements through planting.

In the address of the Hon.Commissioner for Environment,Hon.Tokunbo Wahab who was ably represented by the Director of LASPARK ,Mrs.
Oluwakemi Onatunde, he identified indiscriminate refuse disposal and blockages as the root cause of flooding challenges the state is facing today.The Hon.Commissioner however, enjoined all Stakeholders to join forces with the Government at all levels to enlighten residents on proper refuse disposal while encouraging the young ones on the importance of planting trees and the need to nurture nature in the interest of future generations hinging on the theme of this year’s Tree Planting Day which is “NURTURE OUR FUTURE”

In the same development,Mrs Doris Chimezie and Environmental Health Officer of the Council took stakeholders through the process of Tree Planting and Nuturing for plant survival.

The programme ended with various species of trees and shrubs planted around the Council and its environs.

Also at the occasion to commemorate the day were the Leader of the Legislative Council,
Hon. Oluloro Idowu,
Deputy leader
Hon. Femi Oyesile,the Head of Environmental Services Department,other Management Members,CDC/CDA Representatives,Religious Leaders,Market Leaders,Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria amongst others.
