Against the increasing rate of drug abuse by young persons in Kosofe and its environs, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has launched a campaign established to fight the menace called drug abuse.

Newsconnect reports that Ogunlewe in a press statement signed by him said;

“I, Barr Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, write to you today with a heavy heart but unwavering determination. Our beloved community faces a grave challenge: the scourge of drug abuse. However, I assure you that we are not standing idly by. We have launched the “#KosofeKicksAgainstDrugAbuse” campaign, a resolute effort to combat this destructive menace.

“The devastating impact of drug abuse cannot be overstated. It shatters individual lives, rends the fabric of our society, and robs our youth of their boundless potential. It fuels criminal activities and undermines the stability of our families. As your Chairman, I declare that Kosofe stands united against this threat.

“Our campaign aims to raise awareness, provide crucial support, and empower each resident to make informed choices. We are fostering open dialogues, bolstering rehabilitation programmes, and forging partnerships with stakeholders to address the root causes of substance abuse.

“I call upon each of you to join us in this vital mission. Together, we can reclaim our streets, restore hope, and build a Kosofe where all our citizens, particularly our young people, can flourish in a drug-free environment. Let us join hands to break the cycle of addiction and pave the way for a brighter, healthier future for our cherished local government area.

“The road ahead may be challenging, but I have unwavering faith in the strength and resilience of our community. United, we shall overcome this obstacle and create a safer, more prosperous Kosofe for generations to come”.
