Late Debo Akeem Oke
The Kosofe political community, alongside the entire Lagos State, is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of a grassroots titan, Hon. Debo Akeem Oke. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many. Among those mourning is Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon—known affectionately as OKLA—a dedicated legislator and representative of Kosofe Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Hon. Okanlawon, known for his strong connections to the people and deep appreciation for service and leadership, expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Hon. Oke. Describing him as a loyal party man, a committed leader, and a pillar within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Okanlawon highlighted the invaluable contributions Hon. Oke made toward grassroots mobilization, party unity, and the development of Oworonshoki community and the Kosofe local government area.
In his tribute, Hon. Okanlawon acknowledged that Hon. Debo Akeem Oke was more than just a political figure—he was a mentor to many, a bridge-builder across generations, and a man whose political insight and selfless service endeared him to both colleagues and constituents. His death, Hon. Okanlawon noted, is not just a personal loss to his family and community but also a significant blow to the progressive political movement.
Hon. Okanlawon emphasized that the passing of Hon. Oke stands as a profound testament to the fragility of life and the enduring legacy forged through unwavering dedication to public service. As the community mourns this immense loss, it simultaneously celebrates a visionary leader whose transformative impact reshaped the political, social, and security foundations of his community, leaving an indelible mark on his community.
Beyond politics, Hon. Oke was a man of peace, humility, and devotion. He earned respect through his consistent advocacy for fairness and inclusion within the party and society. Hon. Okanlawon praised him as a rare breed of politician—one who led with his heart, always placing the needs of his people above personal ambition.
As Kosofe mourns, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon called for unity and reflection, urging younger politicians to emulate Hon. Oke’s legacy of loyalty, discipline, and unwavering dedication to community development. He offered his deepest condolences to the Oke family, the APC in Kosofe and Lagos State, and all who benefited from Hon. Oke’s leadership and mentorship.
