As part of the activities earmarked to celebrate 2025 International Youth Day, Lagos Mainland Local Government under the able leadership of Honourable Jubril Emilagba, the council Chairman didn’t just celebrate youths with outstanding academic results, but also made Odekanle Ridwan a day Chairman of the local government.

‎Newsconnect reports that Ridwan Odekanle a 400 level undergraduate student of University of Lagos  emerged one day chairman as a result of his cumulative grade point (CGPA) of 4.37 in Science Education.

Honourable Moshood Wale Mommoh, the Vice-Chairman of the council who spoke on behalf of the Chairman at the auspicious event said the initiative is to task him and others not to rest on their oars, but rather to encourage them to come out in flying colours.

Odunbajo Demilade emerged a day Vice-Chairman, Ayetosho Oluwatoyin emerged a day Council Leader and  Folawiyo Farouq also emerged a day Chief of Staff.

According to Emilagba Bashir Bisoye, the visioner and the APC Youth Ambassador Lagos Mainland Chapter said the aforementioned names respectively emerged through their CGPA’s.

‎”They are the second , third and fourth.  So we thought of not make it a day chairman alone, let’s celebrate others.

‎”Before this regime, we did Adire, debate and quiz competition in conjunction with the local government, we have met a lot of people. We went to motherless baby home to donate things to the needy. We have met with the first lady of Lagos State, and we have met with so many notable people.

“This is part of what we’ve been doing, that is a day chairman. So we promise to keep doing more for youths in Lagos Mainland and Lagos State.

“Lagos Mainland had so many program for youths, if there is any program going on for youths, definitely they will be carried along”. He said.

The one-day Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government Odekanle Ridwan Adewale in an interview with journalists at the event expressed how he feels and how the celebration would impact him going forward.

In his words, he said;


“I feel so honored, I feel so fulfilled. I am very happy that I am the first recipient of this honorary position. I want to thank the Chairman for this gesture, apart from this, they have opened a lot of connection for me.


“Since yesterday I have been meeting with a lot of elite personalities. I wish they can continue this, it will motivate the youth to do more academically. 

“I am a politically inclined person, I am a member of youth Assembly of Nigeria.  I believe this would reshape my political dimension, it will give me confidence that with Education, politics is viable.

“I can now see I can focus on Education and still engage in politics”.

Ridwan thanked his My mom for her support. He said without her mom’s financial and emotional support which gave him confidence, he wouldn’t have been here.

‎”Thank you so much mom. You are the bedrock of everything.  She is always there for me, financially, emotionally, in fact she made this happen. Without her given me confidence for every blessed day, I will not be here today”. He said
