Barrister Joseph Olumide
While creating awareness of his Chairmanship aspiration before the ‘electorates’ in Majidun, in Ikorodu West LCDA, Barrister Joseph Olumide Babatunde opined that the slow pace of development in the community culminated to his decision of contesting as Chairman.
Newsconnect reports that Joseph according to him is the only Chairmanship aspirant who hails from Majidun. Hence, his decision to sensitize the people and electorates from Majidun to vote him rather than ‘stranger’.

In an interview with Newsconnect correspondence at the sensitisation and awareness meeting of Barrister Joseph and the people of Majidun,
He said;
“I’m brought up from Majidun. Majidun is not the only community that make up of the council. Majidun is just a community under the entire Ikorodu West. From time immemorial , i knew the kind of challenge this community is facing.

“As a son of this community, i believe i am in the best position to identify what is the cardinal problems which i have identified. I have aspired just to ensure my people’s interest are covered. That my people’s intentions are noted.
“Before now, a lot of chairmen have come and gone, solicited for our votes, and coming back to fulfill their promises they made becomes problem for them.
“We now felt Majidun is going backward. it is important we intervene swiftly. We want to come onboard to ensure that we provide all the necessary social amenities we are presently lacking in Majidun community if elected.
“There is no single recreational centre even in the community. In the whole of Ikorodu West, you hardly can see one one single recreational center.
“This will form part of the project that we are going to look into. Primary health care center is another challenge we are being faced with. From the time immemorial, we have just one maternity center, the one at Ogolonto.
“Most people who need the service in Itowolo would have to come to Majidun which i think is not proper in the 21st century.
“If i’m privileged and elected as Chairman Ikorodu West, i am going to build more health centres across 5 wards in Ikorodu West. I will build more classrooms blocks, we will keep sensitizing the youths to shun cultism and get them job opportunities from our local resources if am elected.
“There is no single market. It is duty of the local government to build markets. It is from the market they generate revenue, we will look into it if am elected as the Chairman. I will build standard modern market for the market women.
“I am here to sensitize my people, create the proper awareness, the need for them to support my candidature as a son of the soil”.
