Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal constituency at the House of Representative has dedicated his Starlight award as the Ikorodu Man of the Year award to everyone in his constituents who made it possible for him to make impacts.
Newsconnect reports that since year 2016, Starlight award had been commending those that are adding values to Ikorodu. The people that are going the extra mile to make development a reality in Ikorodu division have been awarded to inspire and motivate others.
In his remark having received 2024 Ikorodu man of the year award, JB said;
“This award is not my award, this award is your award. This award is everybody’s award. You are not celebrating me, we are celebrating ourselves.
“Ikorodu has been progressives. Ikorodu delivered the highest votes for Mr President. Despite our size, we gave Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu our highest vote.
“If you didn’t give us the highest votes, the dividend of democracy we will not be feeling as it is. So i thank all of you. I thank your children, i thank your wife, your husband, our political leaders, traditional leaders.
“You ain’t seen anything yet. Thank you very much for our award, is not my award, it is your award and it is well deserved”.
The convener of Starlight award who is the publisher of Starlight Magazine Adedamola Adesegun Aderibigbe in an interview with Newsconnect at the event said all the awardees making impacts are doing it not because it is comfortable for them but they are doing it out of the passion they have for the community and for the humanity.
“That is why we have to identify and acknowledge these people so that they will also serve as source of inspiration and motivation to emulate. In the long run, we have a more better, safer and developed Ikorodu division.
“The awardees have been singled out, they have got to do more, to maintain that standard and even strive to do more for the betterment of Ikorodu division”.
Other awardees include Honourable Folashade Olabanji Oba the executive Vice-Chairman Ikorodu local government, Honourable Aro Abiodun Moshood, Lagos State house of Assembly lawmaker representing Ikorodu constituency ll, Mathew Kolade Olufemi Arowolo among others.
