The Guest Speaker at the 16th edition of Lagos Ikeja City Award Otunba Segun Adewale whose duty at the event was to rekindle the hope of Nigeria through his lecture on Renewed hope among other things said youths should participate in politics, and be determined to be part of the governance system.

Newsconnect reports that Otunba Segun while speaking with journalists at the event drew illustration from the regime of former Nigeria Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida to corroborate his presentation that Nigerians should be hopeful with the present administration.

“When Babangida took over from Buhari, the economy was in comatose that was when we had structural adjustment program with Olu Falae.

“It took about 8 years before the Babangida comatose could settle in. After 2 years, we started seeing feasible changes.

“It is not going to come overnight, yes there are are excesses with this governments but am sure things will take the right shapes. Now they are begining to see that scholarship abroad is a waste of money.

“There are going to be tangible economy policies that are going to streamline the economy going into the next two years. This government wants to go back for reelection and I can assure you that in the next two years, we should expect the economy to bounce, and expect fiscal policies that will drive this economy towards the right direction.

“One thing that has distorted our youths in this economy is the advent of social media. Everybody wants to make money on social media leaving the tangible areas of tangible development for our youths.

“I want to believe that the youths have a reason and purpose to be part of governance, my advice for the youths is to see governance as integral part of their growth.

“If the youths are determined to be part of governance, they will get it”. He said
