Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, Member representing Ikorodu Constituency I, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Social Development Goals in the Lagos State House of Assembly, 4th of September convened constituency stakeholders meeting, where he reaffirmed his commitment to continuous and effective representation of the people.

‎During the meeting, he highlighted the administration’s efforts under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, citing innovative projects, efficient public service delivery, and collaborative governance. Ogunleye also showcased his legislative achievements, including facilitated construction, transformer installations, and interest-free loans to market women. He expressed gratitude to his constituents and stakeholders, pledging to maintain his dedication to legislative excellence and good governance.

‎He noted that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been characterized by innovative urban and rural projects, efficient public service delivery, and legislative collaboration for sustainable growth.

‎According to Hon. Ogunleye, the Lagos State House of Assembly has demonstrated its commitment to accountability, forward-thinking, and law-making, passing over 467 resolutions and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda through enabling legislation in key areas such as transportation, environmental stability, housing, healthcare, and education. He cited specific examples, including the Lagos State Environmental Regulation Law, the Lagos State Homeownership Law, and the establishment of the University of Medicine and Health Sciences for Lagos.

‎Hon. Ogunleye also highlighted his personal achievements as a lawmaker, including facilitating the construction of roads and installation of transformers in his constituency, providing ₦5 million interest-free loans to market women in Ikorodu in collaboration with First Bank of Nigeria, and working closely with relevant agencies to address the needs and requests of his constituents. He assured his constituents that he would continue to follow up on their requests and ensure that they receive the attention they deserve.

‎In his remarks, Hon. Ogunleye expressed gratitude to his constituents for their support and participation, acknowledging the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and other royal fathers, political leaders, market women and men, community leaders, and party faithfuls. He pledged the continued commitment of the Lagos State House of Assembly to raising the standards of legislative excellence and portraying Lagos State as a beacon of democracy and good governance.

‎As the Lagos State House of Assembly continues on its journey, Hon. Ogunleye emphasized the importance of remembering that true governance is not an abstract idea, but a daily practice, a shared commitment, and a committed care to the people.

‎He urged all stakeholders to embrace this era of renewal and renewed hope with steadfast determination, ensuring that their collective legacy is one of prosperity, inclusivity, and progress.

‎The Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Abdulkabir Adewale Shotobi advised Hon. Ogunleye to regularly engage with his constituents and provide them with feedback on his activities. The monarch urged him not to wait for the Speaker to ask him to convene constituency meetings, but to take the initiative to always meet with his people.

‎Oba Shotobi also announced that the Commissioner for Planning and Budget would be visiting Ikorodu the following week budget Stakeholders Meeting, and encouraged the people to attend the meeting to voice out their needs and concerns, which would be factored into the next budget. He further called on the people to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the 2027 elections, expressing the hope that the Governor would come from Ikorodu Division.

‎The monarch also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government, particularly President Tinubu, for their support and development initiatives in Ikorodu. He specifically requested that the medical school being proposed should be sited in Ikorodu.

‎Meanwhile, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, disclosed that two transformers would be installed in Isiwu, Erikorodo and several other communities in Ikorodu would also benefit from similar projects. He commended Hon. Ogunleye for his activeness and effectiveness in facilitating projects in his constituency.

‎In his remarks, Prince Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for its commitment to grassroots engagement through the Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting initiative. He also praised Hon. Ogunleye for being a worthy representative of the people at the State House of Assembly.

‎The Mayor of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile expressed appreciation and applauded for the outstanding work of Hon. Ogunleye, both at the Lagos State House of Assembly and Ikorodu Constituency 1.

‎Ajibade, representing the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), pleaded for a designated park for transporters along Ojubode Road, citing the need for a safe and organized transportation system.

‎Tanimowo Abdulazeez, representing the Isiwu community, requested a well-structured school and urged the government to build fences around Isiwu Grammar School and LGEA Primary School to ensure a safe learning environment.

‎Yunus Opeyemi highlighted the perennial flooding issue in the area during rainy seasons and sought solutions from the government. He also advocated for the inclusion of local contractors and artisans in government projects, enabling them to benefit from such initiatives.

‎Adeyemi Samuel, representing the youth, called for recognition and acknowledgment, stressing the need for youth representation among stakeholders and involvement in decision-making processes. He also requested employment opportunities at the local government level and youth empowerment programs.
