The suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a resident of Utah.‎‎According to law enforcement sources quoted by Daily Mail, Robinson was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing Kirk during a rally at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

‎‎Investigators revealed that Robinson confessed to his father, a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, who immediately alerted authorities and ensured his son’s safe handover to police.‎‎

His mother, Amber Robinson, is employed by Intermountain Support Coordination Services, a state-contracted organisation supporting people with disabilities.‎‎

Robinson, a student at Utah Valley University, lived with his family in a six-bedroom home in Washington, Utah, about 260 miles from the site of the assassination in Orem.‎‎

Social media posts show him enjoying family holidays and celebrating milestones, including gaining admission into university.‎‎

He was taken into custody late Thursday night in southern Utah. While officials have yet to establish a motive, prosecutors announced that Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted.‎‎
