The Code of conduct Bureauhttp://Code of conduct Bureau (CCB) has allayed the fears of public servants whose blood pressure usually triggers when invited for asset verification exercise.

Newsconnect reports that the Chairman of CCB Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello on a breakfast show on TVC dubbed ‘This Morning‘ anchored by Yori Folarin among other things made clarifications between verification and investigation exercise of declared assets.

Abdullahi said;

“A lot of times, public servants believe invitation for verification is investigation, no, they are two different things.

“If you tell us you have a house in Abuja, we are just trying to verify you have that house, not investigating you.

“If any public servant sees letter from CCB that we want to verify your asset, it doesn’t mean we are investigating you, we are just trying to verify what you said you have”.

“Investigation only occur when we receive a petition against you. If there is any intelligence against you and If at the end of your tenure as a Public Servant, we compare your asset declaration with your current status.

“It is when we see there is excess that is when we investigate. If CCB ask you for verification, we are not investigating you at all”. Abdullahi said.
