The Honourable Minister of Federal Capital Territory Abuja His Excellency Nyesom Wike has publicly critcised the ‘fake love’ professed to him by civil servants who are after themselves and not the development and growth of their communities.

Newsconnect reports that FCT Minister during the commissioning of Phase 2 water treatment plant at the Lower Usuma Dam in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council of Abuja yesterday said the commissioning of the project wouldn’t have been possible if funds generated through IGR were not saved but channeled to frivolities.

‎He enjoined civil servants and political appointees to be selfless towards changing the lives of the people.

‎”Carry your love and go, love without development, I don’t want it. What I want is for the residents of Abuja to feel the impact of government and governance.

“Not everytime complaining, complaining and complaining. No wonder people are complaining all projects in Abuja were abandoned. When funds meant for development are channel to unnecessary things.

‎”When we came on board, what was our IGR every month 5 billion. Today by the special grace of God, every month we generate an IGR of 30 billion naira. If I allow it, we can be putting it in our pockets.

‎”Now, we have come here to commission this. If we were not saving this money, would we have paid the contractor ? If we are not saving funds, would Federal government approve the phase 1, 3 and 4 ?

‎”If we were not saving funds, would we be talking about providing water for Buhari, and Karo and other satellite towns ?

‎”Let us watch for our people, let us change lives, buying computer every year would not solve the problem. Going to America for conference for land acquisition will not help.

‎”What will help is the development of my people. Development of our communities. Providing roads, providing schools, providing water, and providing security that is what is important.

‎”We know how to criticize government, but who are those not making the government not to work ? Who are those making political appointees not to work ?

‎”In my own time, there will be development, there will be growth. This opportunity Mr President has given to myself and Minister of state, history will be on our side the day we leave.  We will lift our shoulders high, that yes we have done our best. Yes we have changed the narrative in Abuja”. He said.
