APC flag and Logo with mammoth supporters.

Some school of thoughts are of the opinion that politics is not a dirty game, but those that practice it have dirty minds. I can’t agree less.

The statistics are there in the public space. Politicians trying to impose their candidates on the people. Trying to manipulate judiciary to get away with impunity. The laws are there to guide but certain individuals disrespect the law for selfish reasons leveraging on their influence.

The 2025 Local Government Election in Lagos State appears to me to be one of the most easiest political contest for all the flagbearers of All Progressive Congress (APC) come July 12. Let me say congratulations in advance to all those that emerge especially those who emerged on the principle of party supremacy.

The chances of other aspirants in the election from other political parties in my own assessment are slimmer compared to previous years. Their primary elections didn’t get much publicity ditto their campaign processes. Massive Defection of heavy weight politicians across the states to the ruling party. I feel the aspirants from other parties rely on sympathy votes from voters who are not pleased with the policy direction of the ruling party. If that’s the card they are playing, time will tell.

Different Chairmanship aspirants of APC had publicly expressed their displeasure with the process of the primary election conducted by APC on May 10 2025 at ACME, party secretariat in Lagos.

Some are personally and silently nursing the pain in anguish refusing to speak with the Press.

Dear APC Flagbearers, as you all know, some aspirants and party members are not happy as a result of your emergence. They feel they will do better than you. They feel their aspirants will do better in representing the people . This is not the first time political contesters feel this way.

We can’t be doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Now that you have emerged as the party flagbearer, you have to admit this fact and work with it during campaign and after election.

You should carry along all stakeholders in the community if you emerge victorious at the poll. You don’t have any vendetta to pursue. Engage community media, establish a symbiotic relationship so information on security and development are better handled.

We know you have a godfather, don’t forget you are there to serve the people. If you emerge, prioritize good governance, with that, you can balance it with politics. When the people are happy, your Godfathers should be happy.

The plights of the masses matter, put them on the front burner by addressing them so your name will never be forgotten in the sands of time.

Do this and thank me later.

I am Elias Abayomi Adagunduro, President The Press Society (TPS). I write from Lagos.
