In their quest to strengthen peace and stability in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, stakeholders in the axis came together for sensitisation on peace and security engagement meeting.

The growing concerns of protests in the country was on the front burner at the meeting.
The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Oshinowo acknowledged the fundamental rights of youth to protest while emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence. He expressed concerns about external elements hijacking protests, citing security reports.
Mayor Oshinowo praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to address the country’s challenges, saying, “We know what is going on in the country presently, and we know that our President is working assiduously to eradicate this problem. He’s actually rebuilding and giving us a new foundation that will give us a better Nigeria.” The Chairman highlighted the LCDA’s empowerment initiatives, including financial support for women, the elderly, and youth, as well as food distribution programs.
He announced ongoing projects, such as the construction of mini stadiums, educational centers, and ICT hubs, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Agboyi-Ketu residents. Mayor Oshinowo also revealed in two weeks time he will empower 1000 people with N50,000 each, targeting petty traders and less privileged individuals.
He emphasized the importance of supporting students with educational materials, announcing the rollout of GCE and JAMB forms. The Chairman appealed to the youth to shun protests, citing the potential harm to neighbors and local businesses. He emphasized the importance of brotherly love and supporting one another in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
In conclusion, Mayor Oshinowo reiterated the LCDA’s commitment to empowering residents and promoting peace and security in the community.
The Police Area Commander advised the youth of Agboyi-Ketu to shun cultism and vandalism. He emphasized that anyone who breaks the law will face punishment, and encouraged constructive dialogue instead of protests. “We want to ensure peace and stability in our community,” he said. “We will not tolerate any form of violence or lawlessness.”
The PCRC (Police Community Relations Committee) also urged the youth to resist protests and violence, promoting civil engagement instead. “We want our youth to engage in meaningful dialogue with stakeholders, not resort to violence,” said a PCRC representative.
Olu Agboyi Oba Monsuru Ladega, pleaded with the youth not to engage in unlawful protests and riots. He emphasized the current Administration efforts towards sustainable development in Lagos State and Nigeria at large. ” The Government are working tirelessly to ensure a better future for all,” he saiqQa@@@@@Qqd. “I beg of you, do not allow anyone to use you for their selfish purposes.”
Othe qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqr leaders, including Oba Balogun Oyero, echoed Say No to Protest as well. They called on the youth to embrace peaceful means of resolving conflicts and to work towards the development of the community.
A resident Mr. Adeola expressed concerns about inflation and price gouging in the area. “We are struggling to make ends meet,” he said. “I appeal to traders to be fair with their prices, so we can afford the basic necessities.”
