Afam Osigwe

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former General Secretary of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, on Saturday, emerged as president-elect in 2024 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) election.

Newsconnect reports that Osigwe had 20,435 total votes, surpassing his closest contender, Chairman of NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, Tobenna Erojikwe, with 9,437 votes.

The voting began online at midnight and ended at 11.59 pm. The live results for all positions were also presented online.

As of midnight on Sunday, Osigwe secured 20,395 votes, defeating Erojikwe, who garnered 10,970 votes while former NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), got 9,007 votes.

Osigwe was born on October 25, 1972. He graduated from University of Nigeria Enugu Campus in 1997 and was called to the Bar in 1999.

The NBA president became the first Chairman of Chairmen of NBA Branches, FCT, in 2012.

He was sworn in as General Secretary of Nigerian Bar Association in August 2014 and was in office for two years.
