Kosofe Local Government under the administration of her Executive Chairman, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe today in a day session sensitised the council female staffers on the prevention of Breast Cancer, a menace which is presently of global concern.
The initiative which was championed by the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Oguntoyinbo Kehinde as facilitator engaged and also addressed the staff on early detection and probable means of preventing the spread of cancer.
The sensitization aims at ensuring women pay attention to themselves also encouraged constant visits to hospitals to report any strange feelings observed in their body especially the breast to protect them from untimely death.
This agenda, however, aligns with the council’s broader concerns to join the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Lagos State Government on the global awareness campaign against Breast cancer.
Staffers were immediately screened at the venue to detect their status for onward attention.
Also in attendance were the Council Manager, Mrs Mosunmola Otaiku-Okoka, female Management Members and entire female staff of the Council.
On behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Council Manager reiterated the council’s commitment to the prevention of the dreaded disease and promised the Cancer Screening exercise will be a continuous one with future plans of engaging male staffers on the prevention of prostrate cancer.
