It wasn’t the ‘normal’ celebration of Aso-ebi nor was it an event that required the performance of A-list musicians to entertain guests but rather, the 2025 birthday celebration of Honourable Kafilat Ogbara, was marked by impactful activities for her constituents in Kosofe Federal constituency.
Kafilat Ogbara the Member Federal House of Representatives in Kosofe Federal Constituency and the Chairperson House Committee on Women and Social Development on her birthday didn’t just create awareness about the menace of drug abuse, also filled gas cylinders, shared mini bag of rice for thousands of households in the axis.

Newsconnect reports that Ogbara who usually celebrated her birthdays on a low-key reiterated the significance of the activity put together by herself and her team for this year’s birthday celebration when fielding questions asked by journalists.
“The rate at which our children these days are addicted to drugs, it has destroyed a lot of lives. There is a need for us to ensure that we see how we can intensify our campaign , try to rehabilitate some of these children and see how we can give them a better life.

“There was a walk in commemoration of my birthday today in campaign against drug abuse. And am sure a lot of people would have been educated more today and of course we also have our hotline for people who are addicted to drugs and need help.
“We are trying to get them, rehabilitate them, give them a better life and also introduce them back to the society. That is on going, it’s a special project am handling myself. I have introduced this to my committee on women affairs and social development, we have been going round the zones of the country to campaign to the communities and relevant stakeholders on the need to curb the abuse of drugs in our society.
“The rate of drug abuse is increasing the rate of crime, once you are able to curb the rate of abuse on drugs, crime will reduce automatically. That is my personal belief. I also believed that from research, once drug abuse is being able to be curbed, definitely we are going to have a better society.
“This is what gives me joy, and this is exactly what am doing. As i stand here this afternoon, you cannot quantify how happy i am, people are happy because i am happy and i am happy because people are happy. This is the only thing that gives me joy, this is the essence of life for me. I wish i can even do more, this is nothin as far as am concern.
“This is a tip of an iceberg, of what i can afford to do. I have promised my people to be rest assured that they have a smart legislature. I am very sure they have been seeing the signs and i am not relenting.
“I will continue to lobby, influence and see how i can appeal and encourage people to come and put a lot of projects in my constituency. I am not relenting about that because i want the very best for my people.
“I want to appeal to our people that we should remain patient with the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have been patient, and i appreciate Nigerians, i applaud them and i also wish they continue to pray for this country, this is our country, we don’t have any other country.
“We know that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken giant strides in different ways, he has taken bold steps that a lot of leaders in the past have not been able to take. Of course for us to repay what has been damaged, definitely it’s going to take a while”. She said
The Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Chairperson league of Women Voters of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter, Tola Oyedele Abubakar on behalf of women in Kosofe expressed their excitement. In an interview with journalists at the event, she said ;
“We are excited. The women are really excited about this. This is not the first round, this is about the third or fourth round, she has done it round the constituency, this is about the third round.
“The women are the one holding down the family, if you relieve some of the burdens on women, you make life easier for the family.
“We are very proud of her, we thank her for this initiative and we are happy”. She said.
