The erstwhile Executive Secretary of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Hon. Afolabi Kazeem ABK had opined that the timing of the 5-day Trade Fair and Exhibition in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA is Strategic considering its coincidence with the need of people in the Yuletide season.
ABK acknowledged the decision of Princess Samiat Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri for her Initiative in providing free space for participants.
“It is a laudable initiative, it will make goods more affordable for consumers”.
ABK expressed optimism that the trade fair will attract a large number of visitors, given the conducive environment and the absence of costs for participants. He praised the Mayoress for her efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth in the community.

The trade fair, which kicked off yesterday, December 2nd, 2024 at the Babajide Sanwo-Olu international Market, Ikosi.
It is a five-day platform for growth, opportunity, and innovation, bringing together businesses, entrepreneurs, and customers from across the community.

She emphasized the significance of the event, not just for the businesses represented, but for the entire community. She shared her personal connection to the marketplace, having been raised by a dedicated market woman (Iya-Oloja), and highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for all entrepreneurs, regardless of their background or resources.
Mayoress noted that the trade fair is free for all participants, a deliberate decision made by her administration to ensure that no entrepreneur is left behind. This initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to investing in the people, their ideas, businesses, and futures.
She encouraged vendors to make the most of the opportunity, showcasing their products, building networks, and establishing lasting partnerships. She also urged visitors and customers to explore the local businesses and support homegrown talents.

The traders also commended the Mayoress for not being tribalistic in allocating stands at the trade fair. They noted that the opportunity was open to all, regardless of their ethnic background or affiliation.
According to Rashidat Ogunbadejo, a vendor who sells snacks and Zobo drinks, the opportunity to participate in the trade fair has been a blessing, as she has been able to make significant sales. “We thank God for sales,” she said.
Rashidat particularly commended the Mayoress for giving her and other vendors the opportunity to display their products, describing it as a “very rare opportunity.” She expressed her gratitude for the Mayoress’s support and encouragement, which has helped to boost her business.
Honourable Femi Saheed, member Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency ll also spoke with journalists at the event. Among other things lauded Princess Samiat Intervention at this critical time.
