In a significant effort to improve the well-being of elderly residents in Kosofe Local Government,the Council under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe has commenced a free Primary Mobile Healthcare program specifically designed for senior citizens aged 60 and above.

This initiative, which kicked off today Monday,21st October,2024, aims to bring essential healthcare delivery closer to senior citizens in the seven (7) Political Wards of the council area, offering them free medical screenings, treatment of common ailments and other health related issues.
The mobile healthcare unit provides a range of services, including Blood Pressure Checks, Dental Assessments, Diabetes Screening and Treatment, Hearing Assessments, and treatment for minor ailments and others.

This program is a response to the growing need for accessible healthcare among the elderly, many of whom struggle with mobility issues and are unable to regularly visit hospitals or health centers.It is also a way of decongesting Primary Health Centres and State facilities catering medical needs of residents.

Speaking at the flag-off of the programme, the Executive Chairman, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, emphasized the importance of caring for the elderly, stating, “Our senior citizens are the backbone of this community, and it is our duty to ensure that they enjoy good health in their later years. This Mobile Healthcare Initiative is part of our broader commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare for all residents.”

The exercise which commenced in the Oworonshoki area of the Local Government with Adebari, Itesiwaju,Ifesowapo,Okenla and Oreofe Community Development Associations (CDAs) as beneficiaries will also berth at Olayiwola Owoiya Street tomorrow Tuesday,22nd October to continue the free healthcare services to senior citizens of Hope,Seaflow,
Mosafejo Lane,Mosafejo Central and Irepodun CDAs respectively.

The program will rotate across different political wards of the Council Area, ensuring that no senior citizen is left out
as Healthcare Professionals will be available to offer consultations, perform screenings, and provide necessary treatments on-site, making it a convenient and comprehensive services for the targeted beneficiaries.

Residents of Kosofe Local Government and its environs have however,lauded the initiative, with many elderly beneficiaries expressing their appreciation for the care and attention given to their health needs when it is most needed by the present Administration.

The Local Government, therefore, encourages all eligible seniors to take advantage of this free health services for healthier living.
