The Abia State Police Command has shed light on the arrest of Labour Party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Ceekay Igara, on Saturday ,revealing that he was summoned due to allegations of impersonation filed by the party’s Acting State Chairman, Emmanuel Nweze Otti.

This revelation  was made in a statement issued to journalists by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, on Sunday.

The police command summoned Igara, alongside three others, for questioning regarding alleged activities that could spark unrest, impersonation, and fraudulent acquisition.

According to the statement issued,“The Abia State Police Command received a written petition from the Labour Party’s Acting State Chairman against Mr Ceekay Igara and three others for alleged impersonation, obtaining by false pretence, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

The Statement also disclosed that Igara appeared before detectives for questioning and was released after providing his statement, as the investigation progresses.

It was  earlier reported that the leaders  of the Labour Party had called for the immediate release of its National Vice Chairman, South-East, Mr Ceekay Igara, who was allegedly detained  on the Instructions of Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti.

The Labour Party’s demand for his release was made through a statement by Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, Deputy National Chairman, on Saturday in Abuja.
