A man identified as Dada Adesonye, 24 years has died after hanging himself to a tree in the Afami area of Imasayi, in the Yewa North Local Government Area , Ogun State.
According to Punch Newspaper, The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola revealed that the victim’s body was found by a worker in the area at the early hours of the day.
She also revealed that the police officers had immediately visited the scene after being informed about the incident in which they discovered an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and #2000.
Narrating the incident,She said, “On October 18, 2024, at approximately 8.27 am, the Divisional Police Officer reported a suspected suicide incident. An Assistant at Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese informed the Dangote Police Post that he discovered a lifeless body around 8:10 am”.
The duty officer at the police post promptly alerted law enforcement, and a team was dispatched to the scene.
However Investigations carried out and pictures taken revealed no signs of violent attack on the deceased, only his Personal belongings which includes; pockets included a payment card, a key holder, an earbud, and N2,000 were found in both pockets”.
Adesonye’s body was said to have been released to his family uoon request for burial.
The State Police Public Officer admonished families to pay extra attention to loved ones who may be exhibiting abnormal and strange signs.
“The body has been released to the family for burial. Further updates will be provided, and in the meantime, please remain calm and vigilant, families should also closely monitor loved ones who exhibits abnormal signs”
