As a charge to encourage students who are beneficiaries of the 450 free GCE forms in Kosofe, the Executive Chairman of the local government Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe has promised to support outstanding students with free jamb forms and scholarship throughout the University education.

Newsconnect reports that Ogunlewe made this promise in an interview with journalists at the event at the council secretariat on the 4th of September 2024.

This is the fourth term Ogunlewe is giving out free GCE forms to indigent students in Kosofe with the Collaboration of partners like SOHCAHTOA and OBA foundation.

When asked about his plans to improve the standard of education at the event, Ogunlewe said;

“This is like the fourth edition of given out GCE forms we’ve also given out free jamb forms within the community. We have built schools, we are sewing uniforms for the pupils of this local government.

“Our own is to ensure we support this community and the students from this community. I believe in Education and that is what matters.

“Even for some of us, without education, we can’t be where we are. Mine is to make sure most of the students within our community go back to school. With school, dedication, we can make Nigeria a better place .

“Any student that passes well will receive the free jamb forms, and will support the students throughout the University.

Talking about the yardstick adopted in identifying beneficiaries, Ogunlewe said;

“I don’t know any of the beneficiaries. We put it on the social media and told the CDA’s to inform those who are in need of the intervention, to come to the council and do the necessary things and we pick it up from there.

“Nobody has any slot, it has nothing to do with slots or anything”. He said

One of the beneficiaries Lawal fadilat Opeyemi said this is a back up for her waec result.

“If by chance, I don’t make my waec, this is a back up for me. I do not pray for a bad result, however we don’t know what fate has for us. I am going to read my books, burn the midnight candles and come out in flying colours to make the Chairman proud of investing on us”.

Mrs Adekitan Omotosho, a parent cum teacher told journalists at the event that;

“It was an applauding initiative. I live so close to Agboyi-Ketu, I have witnessed the Distribution of GCE forms there. Unlike here, apart from the distribution of GCE, there was also free coaching to prepare the students for an excellent performance.

“They should not let down this initiative, by not performing very well. At least with the coaching classes, that was put in place, they should go there with a robust preparation so that they will come out in flying colours, and it will also add to the glory of the local government”. She said.

The project director for SOHCAHTOA Foundation Martins Emmanuel reiterated the vision of the foundation and equally admonished beneficiaries to uphold the right attitude so the can come out in flying colours .

“For the past three years, we have partnered with Kosofe local government to support indigent students with GCE forms. We are here today to do same. Going forward, we will keep strengthening the partnership.

“I want the students to make us proud and ensure this intervention is not a waste. As they prepare for exams, They should read their books and takes their studies very serious. They should shun all forms of exam malpractices all forms of violence, all forms of cultism. They should pray to God, I know they will all come out in flying colours if they practice this”.
