The Federal Lawmaker in the House of Representative from Ikorodu Division Honourable Babajimi Benson has reiterated his commitment and political will towards sponsoring bills with human face.

‎Newsconnect reports that Honourable Benson the Lagos State representative in the House of Representatives Committee on Constitutional Amendment made the assertion at a public hearing Monday, 22nd of September at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.


‎He said public hearings are the beating heart of the legislative process. They give citizens a voice, ensure inclusivity, and strengthen the sense of ownership of the Constitution that governs us. This is democracy in action – open, participatory, and people-driven.

‎”One of the Bills that drew deep and thoughtful engagement from stakeholders was the proposal on the Abolition of Capital Punishment for Pregnant Women which I sponsored.

‎”This Bill is not just about reforming punitive measures; it is about affirming our collective humanity. It recognizes the sanctity of life, the unique vulnerability of women in such circumstances and the unborn child who should not bear the weight of another’s crime.

‎”Its spirit aligns with global best practices and reflects our moral responsibility as a society that values justice tempered with compassion”. He said .
